Jenelyn Olsim returns to ONE Atomweight Grand Prix

MANILA, Philippines – Jenelyn Olsim, Team Lakay’s fast-rising talent, is back in ONE’s World Atomic Weight Grand Prix photo, the Inquirer learned Wednesday.

The Filipino fighter will face Malaysian grappler Jihin Radzuan in the delayed card of the promotion, Nextgen II, on November 12 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

A national Muay Thai athlete who has been struggling on the pro circuit, Olsim was originally supposed to face Grace Cleveland for an alternate bout in the Prix. An unknown medical condition, however, put the latter out of service, leaving Benguet’s 24-year-old prospect out in the cold.

“I remain positive despite what happened,” he said. “I know there are still a lot of opportunities waiting for me, so I just have to be prepared every time.”

Olsim will come out of two spectacular victories for his next fight. He wowed the pundits with his all-round game and striking shot that has long been a specialty of fighters coming out of the famous Lakay stable.

She quickly got rid of Maira Mazar by means of a guillotine in her promotional debut, then easily beat Bi Nguyen in her fight by dropping to atomic weight.

Radzuan, for his part, will enter the game as a vengeful fighter. She has bowed to Filipino fighters in the past, losing to division top contender Denice Zamboanga and Olsim senior Gina Iniong.

Alternative attacks are workarounds, the promotion devised to link sudden changes to his matches. Olsim and Radzuan can follow Brazilian Julie Mezabarba who earned a wildcard in the final four of the Prix after Seo Hee Ham was forced to retire due to injury.
