Shaken markers and unit identification in action

So with wooden beads firmly attached to every base of my samurai armies, lets see how unit identification works.  Is it the flags on the base that work better or the flags in the 'bead' attached to the unit?

Before - who's who?  You can just make out the beads on the closer units.

With unit identification flags on bases - different for both armies to prevent confusion/
